If you are graduating in the near future and having to start repaying students loans is looming around the corner, this info session might be just what you need! Financial Aid staff will walk you through the repayment planning process and discuss all the things you need to know! After the info session they will offer one-on-one advising in the GLC on Wednesday and Thursday 8:30-12 and Friday 1-5.

5. THESIS THURSDAYS

Need a quiet space to work on your thesis, dissertation, or course work? Gotta study for exams? Absolutely have to get that article out, like, yesterday? Thesis Thursday is your answer! This weekly gathering is for grad students who want to keep accountable to a regular work time and need a guaranteed quiet place to work. Meet each Thursday just a few blocks off campus at 107 Church Street – 2nd floor of the State Farm office (entrance on Church Street). Free coffee and wi-fi, plus multiple spots to sit and study alone or in groups. Stop in any time during study hours. Limited parking available. 8. WORK/LIFE BALANCE WORKSHOP FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS

As a part of the Graduate School’s professional development series, a team of graduate students in the Department of Population Health Sciences is facilitating a work/life balance training program that focuses on sleep, time management, and work/life stress. 9. GLC COMMUNITY GAME NIGHT

10. GRAD-UGRAD MENTORING PROGRAM SEEKING MENTORS – 1st posting
The Graduate–Undergraduate Mentorship Program (GUMP) is seeking mentors from all fields! This program allows graduate students to mentor undergraduate students considering graduate school. Undergraduates and graduates are matched according to their area of study, allowing the undergraduate to get a taste for graduate school and to ask questions of current graduate students. Each mentor is matched with 1–2 mentees, who will shadow/meet with them at times convenient for the graduate mentor during the Spring semester. Mentoring can help build leadership skills and provide an experience to discuss with future employers. GUMP is sponsored by the Graduate Student Assembly(GSA). 11. ACADEMY FOR GTA EXCELLENCE APPLICATIONS NOW ACCEPTED – 1st posting

13. GSA RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM ABSTRACT SUBMISSION OPEN THROUGH JANUARY 1
The 32nd Annual Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) Research Symposium and Exposition will take place on March 23, 2016 in the Graduate Life Center. Graduate and advanced undergraduate students are invited to submit an abstract for this event between November 8, 2015 and January 1, 2016 at 11:59pm (EST). 15. WAGE POSITION AS NEWS ANALYST AVAILABLE –  1st posting
The Discovery Analytics Center of the VT Department of Computer Science in Arlington is looking to fill 3 wage positions for News Analysts. This is a 20-hrs/week, online, work from home position paying $20/hr. News Analysts will be responsible for reading news articles in Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish and extracting information from them. Analysts are trained on how to record the extracted information. Requirements: proficiency with at least one of these three languages; knowledge of and interest in world and regional politics; excellent written and spoken communication skills. 16. GRAD WAGE POSITION OPEN IN OIRED – 3rd posting
Office of International Research, Education, and Development (OIRED) is looking for a graduate student (wage) to work up to 20 hrs/wk on projects and initiatives, including providing support to project development and efforts to identify and respond to project funding opportunities. The grad student will contribute to proposal preparation and help with the due diligence and research that goes into responses to funding opportunities.  S/he will support ongoing project work as appropriate. Celebrate the end of the semester and the end of the year with the final café of 2015, combined with a book swap. Bring books and take some, or just take books to read during the break. Share your favorite titles with grad students and Grad School colleagues over coffee, tea, hot chocolate, hot cider, and cookies. The café will be on a break on Dec 24 and 31, but will return on Jan 7, 2016!
