1. EMERGING FROM THE PANDEMIC: A DISCUSSION OF VIRGINIA TECH’S SUPPORT OF STUDENT WELL-BEING
Monday, May 10, 12-1pm, Zoom
The Virginia Tech Chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) invites you to join a discussion with Dr. Frank Shushok (Vice President for Student Affairs) and Dr. Ellie Sturgis (Interim Director of Cook Counseling Center) on the topic of graduate and undergraduate mental health and well-being. There is concern among many teaching faculty and graduate assistants about increasing students’ mental and emotional health issues. Drs. Shushok and Sturgis will give an overview of what the university is doing to support student wellness, and how groups such as AAUP might be useful in furthering the health needs of the student body (and by extension the teaching community). 4. BENGALI STUDENT ORGANIZATION COLLECTED UNUSED CPAP/BIPAP MACHINES- 1st posting
The Bengali Students’ Organization is asking the Virginia Tech community for their help in donating any unused cPAP/BiPAP machines/ oxygen concentrators for COVID19 relief in India. Currently, a lot of Covid-related deaths in India are happening for a lack of oxygen supply. These machines can provide life-saving oxygen to people in home care or people without any hospital beds. cPAP/BiPAP machines/ oxygen concentrators are commonly used to treat sleep disorders. People usually stop using these once they are cured or their treatment methods change. We are urging people if you have any unused machines at your home, please consider donating them for this urgent cause. The contact person is Ranit Mukherjee, email: mranit33@vt.edu. Just send a message with your meeting place address and we will collect it from there personally. Please share this message to any other community you are part of.
