National Biomechanics Day (NBD) is a celebration of biomechanics principles, research, and innovation across the United States and around the world. The Granata Biomechanics Lab is studying the impact of race and related factors on movement mechanics. This low-risk study will involve two testing sessions (approx. 30 min. and 90 min. in length). $20 in compensation for r participation in this study. To be eligible, participants must: (1) self-identify as either white American or African-American, (2) can walk without an assistive device, and (3) have not had a lower extremity injury in the past 3 months that limited your physical activity for more than 2 days. GUN POWDER: WHEN THE DUST SETTLES WITH ALEX SKARLATOS
Tuesday, Apr 2 1:00-1:00pm, GLC Multipurpose Room.
This engaging symposium entails an hour-long story circle featuring speakers who have been personally impacted by gun violence, followed by a thirty-minute round table discussion led by a facilitator. The primary purpose of the symposium, is not to reach a consensus on what should be done about the issue, but rather to give space for stories from differing vantage points to be heard. The panelists are not lecturing or presenting an argument, but allowing the audience to feel and hear the passion embodied by each speaker’s experience.
