15. HEALTH SCIENCES & TECHNOLOGY COMMERCIALIZATION FELLOWS PROGRAM INFO SESSION – 1st posting
Through a competitive process, up to five graduate students or postdocs will be selected from across VT who study or conduct research in health sciences and technology related areas and are interested in research commercialization. 17. STUDENT TITLE IX ADVISORY BOARD – 1st posting
The Office for Equity and Accessibility seeks to convene a Student Title IX Advisory Board. The purpose of the Board will be to provide comment and feedback on the university’s response to reports of gender based harassment and violence. The Student Title IX Advisory Board will meet twice each semester to hold discussions and provide feedback directly to the university’s Title IX Coordinator. Issues for discussion may include: review of university’s policies and procedures; review of resources available to students; and review of the university’s communication and outreach efforts, including https://www.stopabuse.vt.edu.

The Virginia Governor’s School for Agriculture summer program has multiple positions seeking Program Leaders from Jun 19 to Jul 21. The GSL is the heart of the Governor’s School for Agriculture (GSA). They interact on a continuing and personal basis with small numbers of GSA students, providing instruction, mentorship, and assistance to the Governor’s School students. The GSL plays a critical role in ensuring the Student Code of Conduct is adhered to at all times, and ensuring the personal safety of all Governor’s School for Agriculture students. Other roles include providing administrative and other support as directed by the Director or On-site Director. 25. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR WORKING MEMORY STUDY – 1st posting
We are recruiting participants for a study investigating the effect of sounds on working memory. The participant will sit at a computer listening to different sounds through headphones while completing a working memory task. The task will include identifying colors and EEG will be used to non-invasively record brain activity while taking the test. The session will take approximately 2 hours. You are eligible to participate if you are 18-35 years old, physically and mentally healthy, not color-blind and have close to 20-20 vision (using glasses or contacts), and have no significant hearing loss. 26. AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR ADHD STUDY – 2nd posting
Participants needed to take part in confidential interview for a study exploring health behavior and health care utilization practices of African American adults who experienced adolescent symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, or a behavioral disorder. Participants receive a $10 gift card for their participation. Eligible participants will: 1) Identify as African American or Black; 2) are 18 years of age or older 3) experienced first symptoms of ADHD or a behavioral disorder beginning before the age of 12. 27. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR PSYCHOPHSYIOLOGICAL MONITORING STUDY – 3rd posting
Volunteers are needed to participate in a psychophysiological monitoring study for aerospace applications. Participants will be asked to wear two commercially available body sensors, the Muse headset and the Empatica E4 wristband, while completing a set of cognitive tasks on the computer. Volunteers must be over the age of 18. The study session is estimated to take 1 hour to complete. A second 1 hour session may be necessary if there is an instrumentation failure. 28. NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR STUDY ON SCHOOL READINESS IN PRESCHOOLERS – 3rd posting
The iLEAP Lab in the Psychology Department at Virginia Tech is conducting a new study focusing on school readiness in preschoolers, and the predictability of different cognitive development factors in monolinguals and bilingually exposed children. The study comprises of two visits, 1 year apart. During this visit, a variety of tasks will be administered in play-like interactions, lasting about one hour and 15 minutes. Data will be collected again one year later. Seek preschool children (around 3 years old) who speak English only, but especially those who speak and hear a different language at home. We offer a $15 compensation at each session for filling out the demographic and language questionnaires.
