These interactive workshops introduce participants to the Fulbright program that offers US citizens funding opportunities to research, study, or teach abroad in more than 140 countries. The competition will open in April 2019 for grants for the 2020 – 2021 academic year. Advance planning is crucial to successful candidacies. The guest speaker will be a Nurse Practitioner who will be talking about common childhood illnesses (at the start of flu season!), telling what to watch for, and answering questions. She will discuss helpful home treatments, as well as when to see a doctor, and when it’s okay for a child to return to school. The Moss Arts Center invites you to a free performance of The Nature of Forgetting. Theatre Re collaborated with London neuroscientist Kate Jeffery to create a moving articulation of the countless dimensions of memory and amnesia, linking science with real life experiences. Undergraduate and graduate students across all departments at Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus are being surveyed to find out about food purchasing, preferences, and other issues related to food security. This study will be used to inform the university administration about the access Virginia Tech (VT) students have to safe, affordable, and nutritious foods. Only the researchers on this project will have access to the data collected from this survey. Responses to the survey questions will not be associated with your email address. 21. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR LIFTING STUDY W/ WEARABLE EXOSKELETONS – 1st posting
Participants sought for a research study about lifting with and without wearable exoskeletons. Must be 18-35 years old with no recent or prior musculoskeletal disorders or back injuries. A height range of 5? 5?- 6? is preferred. Should be able to comfortably lift about 15 lbs from the floor to the waist height. Participants are asked to perform a variety of lifting tasks both with and without the exoskeletons. The training session takes about 1-2 hours and the data collection session takes about 4-5 hours.
