The STS critical pedagogy group invites all graduate students to this workshop. Explore what it looks like to challenge white supremacy and settler colonialism in an undergraduate engineering studies course and related co-curricular activities. The host, Jane L. Lehr, Professor in Ethnic Studies and Women’s, Gender, & Queer Studies at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has been engaged in critical participatory work at Cal Poly for over a decade, most recently co-creating the new “Engineering Social Good?” research group with current undergraduate and graduate students. 2. ONLINE LEARNING FOCUS GROUP SESSIONS

The Provost has charged an Online Learning Working Group with exploring potential directions for flexible and online programs and courses at VT. The creation of high quality online/flexible learning requires a substantial investment of time on the part of the Graduate Students, as well as a robust development “engine” that is oriented toward professional design and production. The Working Group is interested in learning from your experiences as a learner and/or teacher in these environments. Graduate students who are interested in this important topic are invited to provide feedback about current resources and to guide future directions. Two focus groups are being scheduled: Monday, March 28, 2022, at 2:00 pm and Wednesday, March 30 at 10:00 am. Students may sign up at the following linked sites: March 28, March 30. The Graduate School is looking for a full-time graduate student to support the operation and initiatives of the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) during the 2022-23 academic year. This FT 9-month GA position begins in Aug; some summer wage hours are available. 27. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR RESEARCH ON IMMERSIVE EMBODIMENT FOR TRANSGENDER EDUCATION -1st posting
Our goal is to develop an immersive experience to educate people on transgender individuals’ experiences and challenges. To participate in this study, it is required that you are at least 18 years old and identify yourself as a transgender individual. The study consists of a survey and an optional interview. The survey will ask about your experiences and challenges of being transgender. Some questions will collect demographic information. At the end of the survey, you may opt-in for a follow-up interview. Participation is voluntary and all responses that you provide will be kept confidential and you have the option to remain anonymous. The survey will take approx. 7-8 minutes to complete. This conversation is more important for our understanding of the issue. We know this is a sensitive subject so please feel free to opt-out at any stage if you feel uncomfortable. The Echo Lab is seeking individuals to participate in a collaborative writing (e.g., academic papers, project reports) study through which we aim to investigate the communication occurring between collaborators. Participants must be 18 years and older, can fill out a survey in English, uses online services, has written collaboratively with others, and can participate in the study across multiple sessions. Depending on the role assigned to you by the researchers, your duration of participation and compensation will change. For one role, duration be up to 240 minutes total: this includes a pre-survey, writing up two essay drafts, finalizing two essays, and filling out surveys after finalizing each essay.
