2. PEACE CORPS CAMPUS RECRUITER GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP – 1st posting
The Center for International Research, Education, and Development (CIRED) at VT is searching for a graduate student who is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer to serve as the part-time Campus Peace Corps Recruiter (20 hours/week). The recruiter will be the main point of contact for people interested in joining the Peace Corps. Subject to the availability of funding, position will begin August 2021 and run through Spring Semester 2022. The successful candidate will receive graduate school tuition remission and a stipend. 3. BENGALI STUDENT ORGANIZATION COLLECTED UNUSED CPAP/BIPAP MACHINES- 3rd posting
The Bengali Students’ Organization is asking the Virginia Tech community for their help in donating any unused cPAP/BiPAP machines/ oxygen concentrators for COVID19 relief in India. Currently, a lot of Covid-related deaths in India are happening for a lack of oxygen supply. These machines can provide life-saving oxygen to people in home care or people without any hospital beds. cPAP/BiPAP machines/ oxygen concentrators are commonly used to treat sleep disorders. People usually stop using these once they are cured or their treatment methods change. We are urging people if you have any unused machines at your home, please consider donating them for this urgent cause. The contact person is Ranit Mukherjee, email: mranit33@vt.edu. 5. VP FOR FINANCE SENIOR MANAGEMENT AREA SEEKS GRADUATE ASSISTANT – 2nd posting
The VP for Finance Senior Management Area seeks a full-time (20 hr/week) Graduate Assistant to support initiatives furthering the automation of administrative tasks using various technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA). This is a 9-month appointment beginning 8/10/2021 and ending 5/09/2022. The GA will work closely with the finance solutions team to compile business requirements, coordinate with business process owners to document changes to current business practices, assist in process re-engineering and change management planning efforts, and independently analyze business case scenarios. The successful candidate should demonstrate familiarity with basic programming constructs, knowledge of process mapping and design, experience with relational databases and query tools, and an ability to manipulate large sets of data. A campus unit is seeking two graduate students to fill a wage position (20 hrs per week at $20 an hour). Must have interest in Event Planning and Assessment, Public Relations, Marketing, Student Engagement and Support Services, and Administration and Operations. Other requirements include strong administrative and technical skills to include experience with Microsoft suite. 7. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR VR WHACK-A-MOLE GAME – 1st posting
The Virginia Cognitive System Engineering Lab at Virginia Tech is seeking students to participate in a Research Study (IRB #19-553) to determine what types of sensory techniques/aides in the VR Whack-a-mole game will deliver the best performance. Participants will be asked to play whack-a-mole in a Virtual Space while guarding themselves from projectiles coming from behind them. You will be wearing an HTC VIVE VR Headset as well as handle two controllers.The study should take no more than one hour per participant. You will receive a compensation of $10/hr in cash for your contribution, you will need to provide your name and signature in order to receive the payment. Please note that you must be 18+ years old and have 20/20 visual acuity (good vision) or better, you cannot wear glasses during the study. 8. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED: RESEARCH STUDY – EFFECTS OF INTELLIGENT VOICE AGENTS IN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES – 2nd posting
The Mind Music and Machine Lab at Virginia Tech is seeking individuals to participate in a
study to determine the effects of in-vehicle agents on driver experiences and performance in an autonomous vehicle. During the study, you will be asked to drive in a driving simulator. Criteria for eligibility are 1) active driver with a valid license, 2) age 18+ with good health, and 3) normal vision and hearing. The study will last approximately 60 minutes. Each participant will receive a compensation of $10 for participation.
