The GA works closely with the Health Quality Outreach Manager to promote health education and market services provided by the health center. 26. RECRUITING PARTICIPANTS FOR STUDY WITH AUGMENTED REALITY (AR) TECHNOLOGY – 1st posting
This study compares various methods of interaction with virtual content to complete collaborative tasks. It will make use of state-of-the-art AR technologies such as Microsoft Hololens. Participants will be asked to complete interaction tasks such as object selection, manipulation in AR And will be asked for their comments about these innovative interaction techniques. The entire experimental session will take about 60 minutes. We are seeking participants that are: 1)18 years and older. 2)Have normal vision (glasses and contact lenses are fine). 3) Can do the user study which involves AR device, fill out a survey, and answer post-study interview in English. The Center for Transformative Research on Health Behaviors at the Fralin Biomedical Research Center is seeking participants for a 6-month weight loss research program. Participants will receive dietary and lifestyle coaching with a trained interventionist to help develop lifelong healthy eating and activity habits. 28. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR NEUROSCIENCE STUDY – 2nd posting
The Neural Dynamics and Neural Engineering Lab (ICTAS II) is seeking participants for a neuroscience research study about the neural dynamics associated with learning finger-tapping tasks and the effects of sleep on learning these tasks. Must be 18 years+ with no history of neurological or sleep disorders. During this task, participants will perform a repetitive finger-tapping sequence with their thumb and fingers while wearing a glove. Afterwards, participants will take a nap or watch a nature documentary, or sleep overnight in the lab. Electrooculography (EOG) and electromyography (EMG) will be recorded as a step-in quantifying quality of learning and sleep staging. Electroencephalography (EEG) will be utilized to record the task and sleep. Up to 5 (afternoon session) or 10 (overnight session) SONA credits will be provided. Volunteers needed for a study to explore how bias offenses differ between young adults and older populations. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and a first-year freshman at Virginia Tech. INTERFAITH EVENING DIALOGUES FOR STUDENTS – DEAN OF STUDENTS OFFICE

8-WEEK HAPPINESS GROUP

Graduate students are invited to join an 8-Week Happiness Group to explore topics such as gratitude, meditation, avoiding social comparison, practicing kindness, taking care of your body, embracing curiosity, practicing self-compassion, building resiliency, finding your meaning and purpose and goal-setting. FIRST AFRICAN TEA TIME

The African Graduate Student Organization at Virginia Tech would like to invite you to their first African Tea Time. African Tea Time is an opportunity to learn about politics, religion, economy, history, cuisine, clothing, and many more from featured African countries. GSA SPRING BEER & WINE SOCIAL

The Graduate Student Assembly is gearing up for an exciting Spring Beer & Wine Social in Lane Stadium!  Tickets will be $18 ahead of time, $20 at the door, and will include drinks, appetizers and an incredible DJ.  There is also a non-alcohol-drinking entry option, which is $10 at the door. Come relax and enjoy the company of other graduate students!  Everyone is encouraged to dress in semi-formal attire. To buy tickets online click here.
