10. NATIONAL BIOMECHANICS DAY – EVENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – 1st posting
National Biomechanics Day (NBD) is a celebration of biomechanics principles, research, and innovation across the United States and around the world. This year, NBD at Virginia Tech will take place from 9:00am – 1:50pm on April 10, 2019 and we are looking for volunteers to help with the event in morning, lunch, and afternoon shifts! We will have approximately 90 high school students coming to campus to participate in hands-on activities hosted by labs in Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Science and Mechanics, Industrial Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. 17. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED – MOVEMENT MECHANICS STUDY – 1st posting
The Granata Biomechanics Lab is studying the impact of race and related factors on movement mechanics. This low-risk study will involve two testing sessions (approx. 30 min. and 90 min. in length). $20 in compensation for r participation in this study. To be eligible, participants must: (1) self-identify as either white American or African-American, (2) can walk without an assistive device, and (3) have not had a lower extremity injury in the past 3 months that limited your physical activity for more than 2 days.
